A New Vocabulary Word Describing Public Education in the 21st Century

NEW VOCABULARY WORD

Educationalism:   The state of education in 21st century America defined by a blending of 'isms' including Cronyism (Foundation for Educational Excellence, Microsoft, Pearson, K12 and other private companies who work with states to create education policy and law that will promote their products and/or services) Fascism (control of local schools through regulations implanted in programs at the federal level such as Title 1, NCLB waivers and Race to the Top) Socialism (programming and policy that attempts to promote community/commonality and not individual excellence such as the Common Core State Standards) and Totalitarianism (collection of personal data on every child from the time they enter school through the time they enter the workforce and beyond).
